Eating out alone for the first time

I recently went out to eat by myself for the first time in a long while. At first I felt a bit self-conscious, like everyone was watching me, but after a few minutes I actually started to enjoy the quiet and being able to take my time.

It made me realise how rarely I slow down and just enjoy a meal without distractions. Do you enjoy eating out alone, or does it feel uncomfortable?

Wow, this has to be one of my favourite things to do. I actually do this quite often, especially when I’m feeling overwhelmed with work or emotions.

There’s something really liberating about sitting with myself and enjoying a meal — no rush, no expectations. It genuinely feels like a weight lifts off my chest.

I also love taking myself out on little “solo dates” — shopping, browsing books at a library, sitting by a lake, even kayaking if I can. It feels grounding in a way that’s hard to explain.

I’m so glad you experienced that shift from self-conscious to peaceful — it’s such a quiet but powerful feeling.
